Learning Through Doing

As you enroll your child/ren, please be aware that in addition to the weekday classes for children, we also have youth/family services almost every Shabbat morning, along with holiday services.

These services accompany weekday classes and are part of the curriculum in order to enrich your children's learning! They give you and your child a chance to celebrate, participate, and learn with their peers in a setting which is geared to stimulate the awe, wonder, energy and questioning of children at these important developmental stages.

Please take advantage of these services—they are an opportunity to deepen your connection to our community and with other parents and families.

Students are expected to attend a minimum number of courses through the school year (September–May), as follows:

Kindergarten & Grade 1: 8 services
Grades 2 & 3 : 12 services
Grades 4 & 5 : 15 services
Grades 6 & 7 : 18 services

Please ensure your selections and entered information are correct as you proceed through this enrollment form. If you need to go back on yourself within the form, you may need to re-make your selections.

Please provide a response to proceed

Synagogue Membership Requirement

Enrollment of your child/ren in any grade in the Hebrew School (except for Bogrim/8th Grade+) requires household membership of Kane Street Synagogue because we want you and your family to fully engage in Jewish life here and take advantage of all the congregation offers. Tuition does not cover all the costs of Hebrew School. All members' dues and donations help to support our Hebrew School and family programs.

The membership year runs from August 1 to July 31. Dues payments can be arranged with the Synagogue office. Membership is automatically charged in August unless a resignation is submitted in writing. By September 5, you must either pay dues in full or set up a payment plan to cover the cost of dues in order for your child to attend Hebrew School.

If you are unsure of your membership status, or have other questions around your current dues or tuition obligations, please reach out to the Synagogue's Executive Director Mickey Dobbs mickey.dobbs@kanestreet.org.

For families joining later in the school year, member enrollment should occur prior to, or concurrently with enrolling in the Hebrew School.

Please note that your child/ren will not be able to start the Hebrew School program without your household's membership enrollment and payment or payment plan in place.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at HebrewSchool@kanestreet.org.

Financial circumstances should not be an obstacle to your family becoming part of our community, or prevent your children from learning about their Judaism. We want to help!
Please contact us to schedule a confidential discussion.

By selecting this option in the affirmative you commit to enrollment in Kane Street Synagogue membership for your household no later than the beginning of the Hebrew School academic year for which you are enrolling your child/ren.

Thank you!

Please complete the rest of this form to enroll your child/ren, including submitting payment in full (or initiating a payment plan) after you click "Enroll and Submit Payment".

Once completed, please reach out to HebrewSchool@kanestreet.org and/or contact membership@kanestreet.org to continue the Membership Enrollment process.

Contact with Students via Email and Phone

For students in Grade 6 and above, please provide a personal email address and text-capable phone number.

As these students approach the age of B’nei Mitzvah and beyond, they are provided access to online learning resources available only to Kane Street members to aid in their studies. A personal email address specific to each student is necessary to log in to their own user account, which is part of your household’s Kane Street Shulcloud account.

In addition, Kane Street Hebrew School teaching and administrative staff may need to communicate with students during the school year on matters related to their studies; and, if they become madriḥim (teaching assistants), about their tasks and schedule when working at the Hebrew School.

If a student does not (or is not permitted to) have their own email address or cell phone number at this time, for any reason, a parent’s Kane Street account login email address and/or phone number may be provided instead. In doing this, parent/s must allow students access to Kane Street learning resources, and pass on any communications to the student/s related to their Hebrew School studies or commitments.

Please note that some NYC Schools-provided email addresses are not typically allowed to receive messages from outside of the school system. Other schools may have similar policies. It is preferable for students to have a personal address (e.g. Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, etc.) to allow Kane Street staff to reach them from @kanestreet.org addresses, or to receive password reset emails.

This should be an address that is able to receive external email (e.g. @GMail.com, @Yahoo.com, @iCloud.com, etc).
Please provide a text-capable phone number

Since this student has NOT received all of the typically scheduled vaccinations, as required by NYC Schools, plus all COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters for which they are eligible, please contact us to discuss your options, before proceeding any further with this enrollment.

Please briefly describe your child's strengths, preferences, habits, like athletics, art, music, language acquisition, story-telling, strategy games, etc.
