Celebrate Kane Street Synagogue by participating in the
168th Anniversary Commemorative Journal
— a major source of support for our community —
This year, we are delighted to honor
The Ḥesed Community ,
represented by co-coordinators
Elizabeth Cleek and Ellen Shaw .
Kane Street’s commitment to ḥesed , often translated as “lovingkindness,” reflects our values of being a warm, welcoming community that is responsive to one another. Under the leadership of co-coordinators Elizabeth Cleek and Ellen Shaw , the Ḥesed Community arranges meals for families dealing with crises, visits to members who are recovering from illness, and helps with other outreach to members in need.
Kane Street is a strong, vibrant, and growing community. Our preschoolers and Hebrew School students learn with incredible teachers. We celebrate our young members as they become b’nei mitzvah and comfort fellow members during difficult times. We do important social justice work through partnerships with HIAS and Ruth’s Refuge.
Our dedicated volunteers and professional staff sustain and improve the institution as we grow. And we continue to draw strength from Kane Street’s wide array of religious, educational, social justice, and family programs.
Together, we celebrate our past while we also make exciting plans for the future.
